Dreweatts Launches Modern Design Auctions with Specialist Gemma Sanders at the Helm
Renowned for selling traditional fine art and antiques, particularly single owner House Sales and Collections, Dreweatts is pleased to announce the introduction of modern design auctions. The venture will be led by Gemma Sanders, who joins Dreweatts as the Head of Modern Design and Decorative Art.
Gemma brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her new role, having established herself as a respected figure in the world of modern and contemporary design and decorative art. Prior to joining Dreweatts, Gemma spent 15 years at Bonhams, where as head of department she played a key role in shaping their modern design auctions.
An array of iconic designs from the 20th/21st Century
Dreweatts’ modern design auctions will cover all the new and aesthetically exciting design movements and fields of collectability that have come to characterise the diverse nature and ingenuity of the 20th/21st Century. Modernity in all its forms, from the ideals that led the Arts & Crafts movement, through Art Deco, through to mid-century and contemporary studio designers and makers. All manner of interiors ranging from furniture, glass, ceramics, lighting and decorative arts, from early 20th century to contemporary pieces.
Collectors can look forward to an array of iconic designs, from early avant-garde designers like Charles Rennie MacIntosh, Christoper Dresser and Carlo Bugatti, iconic studio ceramicists such as Lucie Rie, John Ward and Gordon Baldwin, with celebrated mid-century designers and masters of post-war construction Charles and Ray Eames, Alvar Aalto, and Hans Wegner, amongst others, alongside emerging talents pushing today’s boundaries of modern design.
